What We Do On The Water

It’s San Diego in the summer – picture placid blue skies, warm sun, and the refreshing waves of San Diego Bay. With so many aquatic activities to choose from, which will help you make the most of another day in paradise? Whether it’s a day cruise, paddleboard adventure, Jetski joyride, or simply fishing off the dock, San Diego has more than enough to offer.

If you already own a boat (and if you don’t, you should!) a day cruise is the perfect way to take in the sights of San Diego while still being able to relax on the water. Tour San Diego or Mission Bay, then anchor at Glorietta Bay, Zuniga Shoals, or Coronado to swim, grill lunch, and sunbathe. Nothing is a better stress reliever than swimming in the cool ocean swells and letting the sun dry you off.

If you prefer a less involved activity, taking a paddleboard around the shore is a great way to see all the yachts either docked or moored, and to get some exercise while doing so! A paddleboard gives you a great view of all of San Diego’s beautiful boats. But if you feel the need for speed, rent a Jetski and hit the throttle (after you leave the no-wake zone of course) on the bay. The spray will cool you down, and the exhilaration of jumping a wake is second-to-none.

If it’s a relaxing evening you’re after, grab a drink and a fishing rod and find a cozy spot on the dock. Bait your hook, cast your line, and watch the sun set as you work the waters. Fishing is a great way to enjoy the water with minimal exertion, unless you manage to hook a trophy bonito, in which case be prepared for a battle.

San Diego has so many ways to enjoy its beautiful waters, it’d be foolish not to try and enjoy all of them . So buy the boat, take the paddlboard out, go fishing, and take advantage of everything our lovely city has to offer!
