HISTORY
After cruising Mexico and the Sea of Cortez in the 80ft Sparks & Stevens Kialoa III, the owners were looking for something a little simpler. This excellent design by French designer Philippe Briand was built in the Marc Pinta yard in La Rochelle France. The yacht was purchased in Tunisia, and brought to Malta for an extensive refit. The interior was gutted completely, saving only the hull, mast, boom and dagger board. The interior, by the Dutch company EDM Vedder, was done with only quality in mind and a “spare no expense" attitude. On deck, she was designed to be handled from the cockpit with single line reefing in the main, all headsails on roller furlers, and an electric winch to make it all easy to furl..
Relaunched in October of 2013, the boat was sailed extensively in the Med. A joy to sail, it is not uncommon to be cruising at 10-12 knots, on a reach, with only the genoa set. Flat and relaxing in the cockpit! With the board up she sails through waters barely one meter deep! Drop the daggerboard, and raise the main, and she can point as high as 30 degrees with speeds in the high teens!!
The salon table is a small oval cocktail type which turns and splits to accept two leaves, becoming a dining table for four. With a push of a button, the table drops on its electrical pedestal to disappear under the sole, leaving open space The entire interior space was designed to be organic, no corners, all round shapes and curves.
All of the interior structure was built using a lightweight cored panel material called “Artkonboard” and it is covered in either teak or sycamore veneer, the teak came from a single, hand selected Burmese teak log.
