Overview

The Davidson 44 is a proven bluewater design by renowned New Zealand naval architect Laurie Davidson, respected worldwide for creating fast, seaworthy yachts capable of serious offshore passages. The aluminum hull construction offers exceptional strength, longevity, and peace of mind for sailors planning extended cruising or ocean crossings.

Built for performance and reliability, she is powered by a Yanmar diesel engine equipped with a PTO (power take-off)—that powers the transmission, positioned near the center of the vessel. This is an intelligent engineering choice that improves weight distribution, reduces shaft angle, and contributes to smoother, more efficient propulsion.

Her sailing rig has been recently upgraded with a new mast and boom, giving the next owner confidence in the integrity of the spar system and eliminating one of the major capital expenses associated with older cruising yachts. This upgrade also enhances performance and safety whether coastal cruising or passagemaking.

The Davidson 44’s hull form delivers the balance sailors want: quick passage speeds combined with excellent offshore manners. The aluminum construction also provides advantages for expedition cruising—impact resistance, easier repair in remote locations, and long-term structural durability compared with many fiberglass vessels.
